With the rise of digital cameras and smartphone photography, modern photography has taken on a whole new dimension. Today, anyone with a camera can capture the world around them and share it with the world in an instant. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at modern photography and how it has evolved over time.

Digital Photography

Digital photography has completely transformed the world of photography. With the rise of digital cameras, it's now easier than ever to take high-quality photos and share them with the world. Digital cameras are equipped with features such as auto-focus, image stabilization, and automatic exposure, making it easier for beginners to take great photos. In addition, digital cameras allow photographers to instantly review their photos and make adjustments as needed, which was not possible with film photography.

Smartphone Photography

Smartphone cameras have revolutionized the way we take photos. With smartphones now equipped with high-quality cameras, we can take photos anytime, anywhere. Smartphone cameras are also equipped with a range of features such as automatic settings, filters, and image editing tools, which make it easier to take professional-looking photos. In addition, smartphone cameras have made it easier for people to share their photos with the world through social media platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat.

Drone Photography

Drone photography has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for photographers. Drones are equipped with high-quality cameras that can capture stunning aerial views of landscapes, buildings, and events. Drone photography has become particularly popular in the real estate industry, where aerial photos can provide a unique perspective on a property. In addition, drones can be used to capture stunning footage of weddings, music festivals, and other events.

Virtual Reality Photography

Virtual reality photography, also known as 360-degree photography, is a relatively new field that is rapidly gaining popularity. This type of photography involves capturing a series of photos from multiple angles and then stitching them together to create a 360-degree image. Virtual reality photography is particularly useful for showcasing real estate properties, as it allows potential buyers to view a property from every angle.

In conclusion, modern photography has come a long way since the days of the daguerreotype. With the rise of digital cameras, smartphone photography, drone photography, and virtual reality photography, photographers now have more tools than ever to capture the world around them. Whether you're a professional photographer or just someone who loves taking photos, there's never been a better time to be a part of the world of photography.

Becoming a Photographer https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2023/1/becomingaphotographer Good morning and Happy Friday!!

So, you have a professional camera, you want to make a few extra bucks to help your family and you think, I could do that! You, yes you want to start your own photography business and you 110% absolutely can! I am a dreamer and Entrepeneur and I want to help others out to pursue their dreams. You think that's all good and all, but heck where do I even start? I am going to share some tips that may help you along the way and ultimately assist you in your decision to become or not become a photographer. I am 100% a believer in community over competition and I hope everyone reading this feels the same. I mean shoot, competition is healthy.

Step 1: Evaluate your goals. Truly sit down and figure out what you want and how you are going to achieve it. Do you want this to be a side gig, or do you want this to be a career? Are you hoping to specialize in a certain area? My number one mistake when starting out was not sitting down and figuring out my goals for my business. I am a balls to the wall kind of personality and wanted to run before I could walk. I promise you, if you sit down and figure out your goals before you accept your first paying client, it will help lead you in the right direction.

Step 2: What will I call myself?!?! The easiest way to start is to go by your given name. This does not require any special paperwork. Want a fun name? You should absolutely go for it! (I have tossed the idea around, but I like simplicity) To run a business under a fictitious name you will need to fill out what is called a DBA (Doing Business As). You can still be a sole proprietor going this route, there will just be an additional step. My biggest advice if you decide to go the DBA route is DO YOUR RESEARCH! Check to see if anyone else goes by this name. IF so, it doesn't mean you can't use this name as long as it is not trademarked, where you may come into trouble though is when you go to build your own website and need a domain name. Using your own name tends to be easier and less expensive when it comes to finding a domain name. This is why you see a lot of photographers using their own names :)

Step 3: Decide if you want to operate as a sole proprietor or as an LLC (limited liability company). If you anticipate a high volume of clients and money, I will always recommend going the LLC route. This prevents a client from suing and taking your personal assets. I personally have not obtained an LLC yet, as I do not feel I am at a point in my journey where it is necessarily needed. There's more paperwork and you must be meticulous with your books. You should always be meticulous with your earnings of course, there's just more involved with an LLC and it is public information.

Step 4: Taxes... we all love them; we all have to pay them. The moment you accept your first payment, you owe the government for that transaction. If you are operating as a sole proprietor, it's as simple as filing alongside your personal taxes.  Check your state taxes! YOU SHOULD NEVER SKIRT AROUND PAYING THE TAX MAN. I don't know about you, but I'm allergic to jail and paying back taxes. No thanks! Every state has different tax laws. If your state does not have clear tax laws for photography, I highly recommend contacting the state or professional accountant to ask these very important questions.  Keep in mind these rules can and do change, so be sure to stay up to date. Do yourself a favor and register with the state for taxes and also register with the Tax man for an EIN (employee identification number) # this makes it easier to separate yourself from your business come tax time.

Step 5: Okay so you have your business name, your taxes figured out and now you are excited to get started! Great! Where are you going to store those images for downloads? I highly recommend a photo friendly web hosting service. There are tons to pick from and some are even free to start. IF you plan to provide a USB stick that is taxable because it is a physical item (something to keep in mind), files will most likely be too large for email transmission and dropbox in my opinion is just annoying. If you plan to start a website, you will now need to find a domain name to start that website. This is a relatively inexpensive way to differentiate yourself from others.

Step 6: Evaluate your equipment. Are you shooting crop frame or full frame? Both are just fine to be clear. IF you are planning to invest, I highly recommend sticking to the same brand as once you start purchasing lenses and back up/new camera body's it gets very, very expensive! A single good lens with a low aperture can run you into the thousands. Your equipment is not going to make you a better photographer, but practice will. Lenses and a good body however will help take you to where you want to be.

Step 7: LEARN YOUR CAMERA!! I cannot emphasize this enough. Do not take your first paid client until you have practiced and practiced. Learning manual is going to give you those beautiful images you are looking for. I do not recommend photographing professionally in Auto mode. The human touch is the best touch.

Step 8: Okay, so you've done the practice you are happy with your results YAY!! Now it's time to figure out your pricing. This my friend is going to be the hardest part. I struggle with pricing myself. My best advice, figure out your cost of doing business. What does it cost to run your business and what will it cost to make a profit? I won't lie pricing your own business is freaking hard! You don't want to be too low because hello you've spent a ton of time and money getting here, but you also want to build your portfolio. Trust me I get it, I've been there. Please do us all a favor and don't be the $50 photographer. You will not make money, you will be overworked, and it will give the perception to clients that hey see, it doesn't cost that much, and others charge way too much. It is already a super undervalued business, and we are all struggling here.

Step 9: yay you took the pictures, you feel amazing about it as you should, and you are ready to start editing. The Adobe platform is going to be your friend. There is a monthly membership, and this will be your best bet and least expensive option. Editing is a huge learning curve. So again practice, practice, practice!

Step 10: Insurance! Regardless of whether you file an LLC or not, you should obtain liability insurance. Most venues and parks do not allow photographers without holding liability insurance.

Okay, I think I covered a huge chunk of starting a photography business. There is more, but my brain is tired and it's Friday lol Please never hesitate to reach out and ask questions. I was in your shoes once and it was an amazing thing to have others there to help. I will leave you with this and not as a negative. Photography is a very saturated market, there are so many photographers, but they all also have their own styles and there are a lot of people, and we all have our favorites. Don't let this deter you from starting your journey, find your niche.

All in all, get out there and have fun! The best part of this job is meeting new people, digging into my creative side and just enjoying the journey.

Cheers!!!

Why Choose Me? https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2022/12/why-choose-me Happy Monday Photog Fam! I hope everyone has a wonderful day and week leading up to Christmas! I honestly can't believe it's this week. Time is flying by this month! I don't know about you guys, but I am not ready LOL, still so much to be done and so little time to make it happen ahhh and it's my Birthday week! I can't wait to hop into the new year, and I hope ya'll take advantage of the 50% deal and I get to see your smiling faces to ring in the new year!

I know when it comes to photographers, you have a ton of options. So, Let's dig into why you should choose me as your photographer. By the way this is super hard to write because, I am not good at writing about myself, but I digress.

Personality: I love to have fun with my sessions, and I always want to make sure my clients do to. Anyone can pick up a camera, anyone can take a picture, but when it comes to being a professional photographer personality and kindness goes a long way. My goal no matter the type of session is to make sure you and your family feel 100% comfortable working with me. I know stepping in front of a camera can be well intimidating as I myself have no idea what to do or how to pose LOL, but I know how to pose and capture my clients. Guidance is key! However, my main goal is to capture your candid moments. Those are the real moments and I tend to shoot with my camera on silent, so you my friend have no clue those moments are even happening until your photo reveal. Posed are nice, but candid images are dreamy.

Legalities: I am a 100% law abiding small business. I pay my taxes YUCK, no one wants to, but I'm allergic to jail, so I'm just going to go ahead and pay them. I think it is very important when choosing a business to choose one that is taking the steps to be a legal business. Sure, you may pay a cheaper rate for an under the table business, but does that typically come with quality? Also, did you know in most FL counties a permit is required for photoshoots? Although a pain in my behind it is a necessary evil to ensure photographers are held accountable for themselves and their clients to keep our parks beautiful. In order for a photographer to obtain a permit they must also hold liability insurance, which lucky for you, I do. ;) There are many who do not hold insurance and are not obtaining their permits for their sessions. If you don't choose me, please do your homework and ask your photographer if they are insured and require a permit for their shooting location. IF one is not obtained where, one is required your session may be completely shut down and after doing the hair, makeup and getting the kids ready, that would be extremely frustrating.

Quality: Let's be honest, it seems like everyone is a photographer these days. Which to be fair is quite frankly true. Cameras and phones have come a long way. When it comes to quality though equipment matters. I spend way more than I care to admit on my camera equipment to ensure my clients receive the best quality images. Sure, a camera isn't going to make anyone a good photographer, but it is a good tool to help and create those beautiful images. In my bag I have 2 Sony Full Frame cameras and various Sony lenses, to name a few. When you receive your images, I will always provide the edited high-resolution images for your printing pleasure. Did you know the average full frame camera costs more than $2000? Lenses typically cost greater than $1500 for a good piece of glass. (Did you read that differently? IF so then we are going to be great friends ha)

Experience: I started this business back in 2016 so have made many mistakes, have gained many accomplishments and most importantly continue to learn. With time comes experience and understanding. I shoot in manual, everything I do was created by me, not my camera. I have finessed my editing skills and style and I have zero doubt these skills will only continue to grow. When composing and editing I take my time to make sure that I am getting the image I want for my client. The beauty of digital photography is the ability to see and delete if it isn't quite up to par. If the image isn't focused correctly or the color just isn't right, I do not put out that work. This is 100% why I do not provide my unedited images to clients. Part of my job and what you are paying for, is the time I place into editing your images. It takes a great deal of time in post processing to get exactly the look I'm going for.

Flexibility: LIFE HAPPENS! If you get sick or your kid gets sick, I am very flexible. I will always work around rescheduling a session as necessary. Now keep in mind there is a $50 deposit that is non-refundable, to hold your time and date for regular sessions, but don't let that scare you away from booking as this is a one-time fee per session and can be moved around if necessary due to illness, life, etc. I try my best to work around your schedule.

Payment Options: I know that money can be a PITA, so this is why I offer options of payments. I do not want you to miss out on updated family heirloom because money is a problem. I offer payment plans, Afterpay, accept all major credit cards, cash and checks. Again, flexibility.

Turnaround: I try my best to have family sessions turned around within a week of photographing. I also have kids and life does happen, but I will always keep you updated as my client to let you know where I am with your images. Weddings take up to 3 months, as there are thousands of images I have to go through, and I am typically editing multiple sessions or weddings simultaneously.

Reshoots: If for some rare reason your shoot is just a complete failure, I will offer reshoots at my discretion. This is never ideal for anyone, but I want you as my client to be happy with your images.

Okay, I think that about sums it up and why you should choose me as your photographer. I hope everyone has an amazing week and I look forward to working with you in 2023!  DSC_1029DSC_1029

All About Me https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2022/12/all-about-me Hey Photog Fam! I am so happy you landed here. I know looking for the perfect photographer can be a daunting task. So, let me introduce myself. I am a mom, wife, friend and you guessed it photographer. I have 2 boys ages 7 and 5, 4 fur children and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 12 years.

When I'm not working, I train for races (running), go to the gym and most importantly spend time with my family. We haven't always been Floridians and in fact moved here in April of 2021 from Pennsylvania. Life was changing in ways we had never imagined and when presented with the opportunity to pursue a new career for my husband, we couldn't say no. It was certainly not the easiest transition, but we have settled well and are looking forward to our future in our new home.

I grew up in a small town and through the years played a few sports. Played soccer for 10 years and Rugby my junior and senior years. Sports have always been a huge part of who I am, and I hope to get my boys into sports here this spring! So, as you can imagine I'm a pretty competitive person.

I can be a shy person, but once you get me out of my shell, I'm a ball of fun ;) I like to make our sessions fun and will always bring some humor along. So, be prepared for my bad jokes.

I am an insanely hard worker and truly enjoy making other people happy. I started my photography business in 2016 and I have been learning and growing ever since. Starting a business is certainly never easy and picking up and moving and starting over, was quite well difficult. I am happy to say though that I am finding myself here and certainly enjoying those sunset sessions and I have the absolute best clients!!!

Fun Fact: I have really bad RBF (hate my face) LOL I promise I'm not mean or angry, I'm just well out here living with frowny face.

Want to know more? Feel free to ask me anything!  DSC_0934DSC_0934

Dreams https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2022/3/dreams Dreams. We all have them and some of us pursue them, but a dream is just that if we don't apply ourselves to achieve them. I won't lie and say it's been easy since moving. The Tampa area and Florida in general is a very competitive photography market. Starting over is certainly never easy and I have been questioning myself and whether I can maintain my business. I stalk the feeds for people looking for photographers, usually late to the game by like 80 :( Instead of wallowing in my own sorrows though, I plan to step out of my comfort zone and start exploring different options to better brand myself and make my dreams of being my own boss a reality. Google ads produced little to nothing other than taking from my pocket as did Facebook ads. The only thing I got from FB ads was scammers from Africa, it was devastating as they were  literally in boxing me non-stop, and FB refused to refund my money and  that's a story for another day. I spend more than I make, and I am really starting to wonder how long this is sustainable. I fork out advertising fees of around $500/month, website fee, insurance fee, props, equipment and the list go on. So, the next time you think your photographer is over charging or you are looking for a "cheap" photographer, just remember we do this for the love of it and sometimes don't even break even or make minimum wage. This is an art and should be treated as such. Would you question your hair stylists' price if she/he is good? Probably not and that only lasts 8 weeks if you are lucky, so why is photography so undervalued? Yes, anyone can take a picture, but not everyone can capture an image that lasts virtually forever.  Sorry for that tangent, I just see it day in and day out. We need paid for our time too, it's not just clicking the camera. It's prep, driving, traffic, gas, editing, etc. If you value the art, consider asking the photographer questions. Verify they are running a legal business and go from there.

Look out for red flags, such as grainy photos, no website, no insurance etc. Value where your own hard-earned money is going. Also, if I am not available for your date, I will be certain to refer you to another wonderful local photographer. We have a great group of photographers that are community over competition, and we help each other out, which is exactly how it should be.

On another note, sorry that was quite the rant, I have been given a pretty amazing opportunity and cannot wait to discuss the possibilities. I am a dreamer though and sometimes that bites me in the butt. I get overly excited and only ultimately let myself down. Isn't that what entrepreneurship is though? You have your lows, more lows and a few highs until you finally find that sweet spot. Something that has really resonated with me are a few podcasts I have been listening to. The difference between failing and success is not giving up. Will everyone make it? Nope, but some will and that could be me. I have a strong desire to not only pursue my opportunities locally, but to also start branching out. Wedding photography seems to be my perfect fit and I want to ultimately someday become a travelling wedding photographer. Capturing moments from city to city one click at a time. It's a dream, but I plan to make it a reality.

New Year New Opportunities https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2021/12/new-year-new-opportunities It is so hard to believe that 2021 is just about over and we are gearing up to ring in the new year! I will not lie it has been a stressful and ever so exciting year. From moving 16 hours away from my hometown, purchasing a new home and completely starting my photography business over. It has been scary and exciting all at the same time!

Starting over has had me feeling excited and defeated all at the same time. Not only am I pushing the hardest I have ever pushed, but not knowing anyone certainly makes it hard to receive word of mouth. I will say however, the families and couples I have met thus far have been nothing but amazing! Although I continue to have up and down days, I know that I can, and I will get over this hump.

Honestly one of my biggest challenges has been finding the editing style that works for my brand down here. As I work through it though I find that in reality no editing style fits every single session. Some images look better bright and airy while others look better moody. So, bear with me as I continue to finesse this.

I see exciting things on the horizon and am very much looking forward to meeting all of my new potential customers and growing as a business in 2022. It's been a long ride and I'm ready to prevail above all of my biggest insecurities and doubts. If you are reading this and haven't left me a review, it would be so incredibly appreciated as I continue growing and rebranding my business here in Tampa. My ultimate goal is always to retain customers and bring joy and memories to their images. Looking forward to working with all of you filthy animals in 2022!! Cheers!

Goodbye PA https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2021/4/goodbye-pa The weather this past week has been absolutely gorgeous and as spring has started, so has my new venture. As the weekend comes to a close and we pack up our final belongings for our move to Tampa, I just want to say Thank You. Thank you to everyone who has been there from the start, for those who have referred me and for those that have watched me grow and believed in me when I didn't believe in myself.

Covid certainly made 2020/2021 very frustrating and created a significant loss in business. It is very scary to start over, but I know that I can and that Rebecca A Snyder Photography will continue to grow in new ways. I look forward to the future and am thankful for the past and where it has brought me. I look forward to seeing everyone again when I come up to visit and I hope YOU will still give me the opportunity to capture your images. :) A few of my favorite images over the years.  IMGP0047-3IMGP0047-3 DSC02757-2DSC02757-2 DSC02559DSC02559 IMGP0012-3-2IMGP0012-3-2 IMGP0054IMGP0054 IMGP0085-2IMGP0085-2 IMGP0093IMGP0093 IMGP0107IMGP0107 IMGP0135-3IMGP0135-3 IMGP0183IMGP0183 IMGP0212-2IMGP0212-2 IMGP0774IMGP0774 IMGP0391-3IMGP0391-3 IMGP0992IMGP0992 IMGP3266-2IMGP3266-2 IMGP3372-2IMGP3372-2 IMGP4003-2IMGP4003-2 IMGP3494-2IMGP3494-2 IMGP4113-2IMGP4113-2 IMGP6114-2IMGP6114-2 IMGP6441-2IMGP6441-2 IMGP7525-2IMGP7525-2

Faith In Humanity https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2020/7/faith-in-humanity Saturday I was fortunate enough to be able to capture a good friends wedding. It was HOT is an understatement, but the wedding went absolutely perfect! The rain ended just before the ceremony and a nice breeze picked up to make the heat a bit more bearable.

At almost every wedding I have photographed there is always someone jumping in with their camera and snapping away. As a photographer this can be incredibly frustrating not only for myself, but also the Bride and Groom as they have paid for a service to capture their moments throughout the day. We live in a time where cameras are easily accessible and the value of photography is taking a spiral downward.

May I take the pictures? Yes, absolutely just be respectful and don't jump in front or request the group/couple to move their attention.

Will you take a picture for us? Of course it's my favorite thing to do! Just ask :)

This day was different though. Everyone was very respectful and the one individual that had their camera was being very courteous.

As my husband and I were packing up to leave for the night, the gentleman and his wife came over and asked us to wait. Not long after he presented his SD card and said that there were several shots of myself and my husband working the wedding and he would like us to have them. I was floored to say the least. I have never experienced such a gesture in my line of work.

This year has been incredibly difficult and this one simple gesture has really restored my faith in humanity. I will be forever grateful for these images. It's not everyday you meet someone so selfless. My Dear Friend Amy you have amazing friends in your life!

Side Note: the Orange all over my shirt is from a Tiger Lilly LOL It can be a dirty job! Usually i'm covered in grass, this time Tiger Lilly hahahaha

LifeStyleSessions https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2020/4/lifestylesessions Covid-19 oh Covid-19 how you have created struggles, but also opportunities. I never thought in a million years we would be living this life, that we would ALL be living in future World History. It is certainly trying and oh so wonderful at the same time.  This time has allowed me the opportunity to capture images I wouldn't have otherwise had time to capture and to practice different depths and editing techniques. My goal through this time is to continue practicing and growing as a business and I absolutely cannot wait to see all of your beautiful smiling faces in the very hopeful near future. This is a tough time for all involved and I would be lying if I said this was easy from a business stand point. From rescheduling to lost revenue etc. it's been difficult, but also all inspiring at the same time.

This extra time has also led our family to new home projects one of which included transforming my former studio space into a play room space for our 2 boys. I am thoroughly enjoying this extra time with our kiddos and I am making it a goal to break out the camera multiple times a week to capture these moments, because all too often it's difficult to find time to just reflect and enjoy life and the little adventures that come along with it.

So with the above mentioned, when I am allowed to open my business back up and this is all behind us, I will be moving more toward lifestyle sessions for newborn and family portraits. These can include outdoor or in home sessions and I will continue to offer newborn sessions in the comfort of your own home.  I will continue to provide swaddles, outfits, props etc. and will just be bringing it to you instead :) I see this as a benefit. This allows my boys to have a much needed play space, because let's be honest; I was drowning in toys and now well, I can just shut the door and pretend it doesn't exist lol  I can now bring the portrait studio to your home where we can utilize that sweet nursery you worked so hard on, natural lighting and flash as needed. It will be more comfortable for baby and especially those sleepless nights where being home is just downright more comfy.

IF you are looking for more of a studio style session I would be more than happy to provide some amazing referrals.

IF you would like to continue supporting Rebecca A Snyder Photography gift cards are currently on sale at a discounted rate of 19% through April 30th (no code necessary) Gift cards can be found for purchase under the gift card section of my website.   I am now also offering prints for sale which can be found under For Sale. As always I am continuing to book later date sessions and Weddings!

A special shout out to all of my lovely brides whom have had to reschedule their weddings, I am right there with you through this all.

I hope to see everyone sooner than later <3  DSC02559DSC02559

Couples Choice Award https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2020/1/couples-choice-award

Hey Everyone!

Thank you so much to everyone who has voted and added reviews to my WeddingWire page. I was away in the most magical place on earth when I received the email that I had been selected as a Couples Choice Award winner for 2020. I truly could not be more honored to receive this recognition. It hasn't always been an easy journey, but I am surpassing any and all dreams I had when I started this business. I can't wait to continue see where this continues to take me. Looking forward to working with my 2020 couples!

Central PA Photographer https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2019/12/WeddingPhotographer As 2019 comes to a close I am reflecting on what went amazing, what didn't and what I can do to improve. It's not just about the equipment or the personality it's about what is delivered. I just purchased a new Sony for the 2020 wedding season and although I can't wait to get out there and see the beauty that it captures, I know I have to grow as well.

It is my goal for 2020 to invest more time into my business and make it more of an income than a side business. I know that in order to do that, I am going to have to push myself to be the best that I can be. It's impossible to play in the game if you don't show up for practice. So with that said I am going to plan on perfecting my style in 2020 with an emphasis on light natural editing and candid portraits.

Here are a few of my favorite candid moments from 2019. Enjoy!

Central PA Wedding https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2019/4/central-pa-wedding It has been a bit since I have written a blog, but what better time than now. Spring is in the air and the beginning of a new wedding season has just begun.

I absolutely love the excitement of spring and I adore doing weddings so what an exciting time. Weddings can be unpredictable, but no matter what the circumstances are, in my eyes they are always perfect. There is nothing more beautiful than two people who love each other coming together as one. It is always such a blessing to be asked to be part of a couples day and more importantly I always feel honored that they have entrusted me to capture one of the biggest moments of their life.

This couple was no exception. From the day we met I knew that they were not only going to be a good fit, but also that their wedding day was going to be stunning. I must say time sure does fly by! From meeting them in the fall to wedding day in the spring, it went by in the blink of an eye.

I joked about April Showers and if there was a back up plan and every time the bride insisted it would not rain. Well I have to admit she was absolutely right and we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather! The sun was warm, the breeze was cool and Mother Nature released her fury the day prior and day after thank goodness!

The venue was one of the prettiest locations I have been and my goodness what a gem! If you are in the market for a wedding venue Lakeview Farms in Dover is stunning! It was certainly an honor to be part of their wedding day and I wish the newlyweds nothing but the best and can't wait to work with them in the future.

Enjoy!

Central PA Photographer https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2019/3/central-pa-photographer So I haven't blogged in a while and I think this is the perfect opportunity to post. So I often get asked at sessions why or how I got into photography and honestly it was kind of a crazy on the whim decision. I have always had a passion for photography and fell in love with film in high school, but had never really worked with a professional digital camera until two years ago. Originally I just wanted to take great pictures of my kids as many photographers do and it kind of turned into more of business opportunity as time went along. I have always wanted to operate my own business and figured this would be the perfect opportunity to do so.

There was certainly a learning curve and I have learned soooo much in the last two years it is unreal. Taking a step to run a business is downright scary! There is so much more to this business than just the click of a camera I had to register for a TIN, I have to file/pay Taxes local and Federal, learn how to run a website, be my own accountant, marketer and insurance broker. Some days I am like what the hay have I gotten myself into. This business is downright tough. It is very saturated and extremely EXPENSIVE! When I decided to start, I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I definitely never imagined the obstacles to get to where I am now. I went into it with very realistic expectations however and created a 5 year plan. I am at year 2 and quite frankly I am proud of how far my business has come. There are certainly days when I have self doubt (especially during a dry spell), but then I remind myself exactly why I started.

I started because I had a passion for photography. This is not just a job for me. This is more than a job. It's an opportunity to meet new people, get creative and show the world that I can and will succeed. Despite everyone else in this market the only person I am in competition with is myself. Also, I would love to take an opportunity and shout out to all of the local photographers who have included me and opened their doors. You guys are the true definition of community over competition and it is absolutely amazing! I couldn't have jumped into a better community of people.

This journey isn't always easy between balancing a full time job, my family, friends and photography. I however wouldn't have it any other way. I am truly inspired everyday and I can't wait to see where this journey continues to take me.

Halloween Bash https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2018/10/halloween-bash Halloween is probably my favorite holiday. Fall is in full swing and there is just something so fun about a holiday where you get to dress up and be weird. I am pretty sure I have more Halloween decorations than I do Christmas decorations. I mean is that even a problem? So naturally I decided to have a Halloween bash and invite clients over to enjoy in Halloween activities and get their little ones dressed up for pictures. This may be 1 of 3 Halloween parties at the Snyder household tee hee. I just absolutely adore everything about it and I can't wait to take my kiddos trick-or-treating this year!

It was so fun having everyone over today to enjoy food and fun. The kids had a blast playing and it was just an all around good time. There is still time to get Halloween pictures done, but hurry time is running out! Enjoy the pictures :)  IMGP7742-2IMGP7742-2 IMGP7797-2IMGP7797-2 IMGP7878-2IMGP7878-2 IMGP7901-2IMGP7901-2 IMGP7927-2IMGP7927-2

AliandAustin https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2018/8/aliandaustin One of my favorite spots to photograph is at Pinchot Park and yesterday was no exception. Even found a few new spots that were absolutely perfect. What was supposed to be a gloomy rainy day ended up being perfect. Ali and Austin are so fun to work with and it was so easy to get great shots. They are so in love and absolute naturals in front of the camera. Their engagement was at Pinchot, so it was important to them for their shoot to be there as well. Might I add that their engagement story is just the cutest!

I have no doubt that this young couple is going to grow closer and closer over the years and be so happy.  I wish them nothing but the best and can't wait to witness their continued journey. IMGP6441-2IMGP6441-2 IMGP6326-2IMGP6326-2 IMGP6311-2IMGP6311-2 IMGP6242-2IMGP6242-2 IMGP6213-2IMGP6213-2

I absolutely love the beach and I also love working with this family. There is something about fresh sea air, sand between the toes and the sound of waves crashing that not only brings peace, but excitement. Oh and the smells from the boardwalk yum!

I have done a few sessions with Little Miss A and it has always been such a pleasure. She is so fun to work with and has such an amazing little personality. I feel so honored that I continue to be provided the opportunity to photograph her and her family and can't wait to continue watching her grow.

Enjoy this sneak peek from our beach session in Rehoboth, DE.

I have known the bride for quite some time and it was such an honor to be chosen as their wedding photographer. Weddings are such beautiful and monumental day.

It was certainly a hot day, but it was also such a beautiful day. The sun was shining and the gardens were looking absolutely gorgeous! The gardens weren't the only thing looking beautiful that day. Sara was absolutely stunning!

The bride and groom truly made my day easy and what a joy they were to work with. Even though we were all sweating bullets everyone was having a good time. Their bridal party was also so fun and it's exactly what every photographer hopes for on such a stressful day for everyone involved. They had a such a happy care free spirit about them.

I wish the newlyweds the best in their marriage and I have no doubt they will be together forever. The love they have for each other is amazing.

Model https://www.rebeccaasnyderphotography.com/blog/2018/6/model So can we talk about how hot it is?!?! That didn't deter my model last night from not only showing up, but absolutely rocking her photo session! McKena was so fun to work with and was willing to do just about anything! She didn't let the heat, bugs or mud stop her. Sometimes with a model call it's difficult to know who and what to expect. This girl is a natural, which made my job not only easy, but twice as fun!

The main purpose of my model call was to test out a new lens. The Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art. I was hesitant to purchase this lens as I have read and heard such mixed reviews from other photogs. I decided to take a chance and so glad I did! Now I did have to use the provided dock and some trial and error to get it sharp, but it was worth it in my opinion. As someone who shoots primarily with Pentax it can be difficult to find a wide variety of prime lenses. I love my Pentax and hope that Pentax and other manufacturers continue to roll out new lenses. Please don't forget about us Pentax users, we do exist!

These were shot at Pinchot State park and there are some seriously gorgeous spots there. If you would like an opportunity to have similar shots done, don't miss out on the current summer special! Only $75 for 5 digital images. Summer will be over before we know it and so will the deal.

Enjoy these beautiful photos and thank you to McKena for being my gorgeous model.  Also thank you Jen for the fun candid shot :) 36418867_10204826821946565_7707384001685618688_n36418867_10204826821946565_7707384001685618688_n IMGP4003-2IMGP4003-2 IMGP4006-2IMGP4006-2 IMGP4015-2IMGP4015-2 IMGP4023-2IMGP4023-2 IMGP4052-2IMGP4052-2 IMGP4056-2IMGP4056-2 IMGP4073-2IMGP4073-2 IMGP4104-2IMGP4104-2 IMGP4113-2IMGP4113-2 IMGP4127-2IMGP4127-2

She was such an easy going little baby and her parents sure are lucky! Typically during a newborn session I can expect many pauses for feeding, soothing and diaper changes. Not with little Olivia, she was content and didn't cry one time. She was ready to strike her poses and was so easy going. Olivia was all smiles for a few of her pictures, which is always so heart warming. Such a fun evening!

I was so excited for her shoot. To prep I  ordered a new wrap and head piece as well as a cute little lace outfit. I was patiently awaiting her arrival and was so excited to get the message that she was born. Both items came from Etsy (I may have an etsy addiction). The lace outfit came from Merrieknit in Bulgaria and the wrap and flower head piece came from OogaChacaBabyProps in Latvia. Both women were super amazing to work with, so if you are in the market for cute newborn stuff, I highly recommend both Etsy stores.

Enjoy the sneak peek of this little peanut!

I just finished up editing Baby Grayson's newborn pictures. He was such a pleasant little peanut. He was so good for his session and his big brother was such an easy going little guy.

I love seeing and working with siblings and witnessing the new big sibling dynamic. We had so much fun during our session and Grayson's big brother Brycen even got to snap a few pictures. Their parent's sure are lucky and I feel so blessed that I was given the opportunity to capture their very first moments as a family of 4.

I don't know what I love more capturing the pictures or editing them. I truly enjoy doing this and I can't wait to continue growing.

Thank you Ana for the behind the scenes pictures!
